The new cover for the upcoming Nimbus anthology, Country Roads: Memoirs from Rural Canada has been finalized. So as promised, I’m letting you all have a gander–or should I say chicken?
The anthology includes pieces from over thirty different contributors, including yours truly, and was edited by Pam Chamberlain.
Just so you know, it will be available this coming May. That’s only two months from now! Pretty cool!
By the way, if you want to see the various stages the book cover went through, and exactly what goes into such a decision, just click on the Nimbus link. While you’re there you can also enter to win a copy of Atlantic Canada’s Top 100 Books. Good luck!!

/ March 12, 2010It’s absolutely perfect for a “country” theme! Very cool! At second glance it also made me chuckle a bit as it reminded me of the “why does a chicken cross the road” thingy. 🙂 I’ll have to go check out your Nimbus link. Jody Hedlund also described a bit of what went into the cover design for her upcoming novel and it’s fascinating. Congratulations on a great cover!

/ March 12, 2010Thanks, Carol! It’s quite an interesting look at what actually goes into the making of a book cover. We only ever see the end result. Neat of Nimbus to give us bird’s eye view. (pardon the pun)

/ March 13, 2010I like the cover. You wouldn’t happen to know what kind of chicken that is, would you?

/ March 13, 2010I’m working on the answer to that chicken question. My husband says it’s a cross. A cross between what and what, he’s not sure.

/ March 13, 2010I kinda liked the cover with the photos better but I the content of the book would tend to dictate the cover art. So I’ll assume it’s chock full of old-time chicken recipes. Uh.. I don’t eat chicken.
New blog background looks great.

/ March 13, 2010As a matter of fact, Dave, I did send in several chicken recipes but I don’t think they made it in. (just kidding)
I have to say I really like green so I am happy with the change.
