Signs of Spring

Yesterday, I was writing about Christmas and making lists. Now I’m back to blogging about Spring… Wonder why?

In my little corner of Nova Scotia, the pussywillow is one of the first signs of spring. We anxiously watch to see those tiny white bits of fluff break through their winter jackets.

Here are some pussywillows my husband picked just yesterday. December 5th.

Could it be? I mean do you suppose?

I like to think that anything is possible even if it is not probable.

  2. Yikes…I can’t deal with spring in December. But I have huge furry flower buds on my magnolias too. We need some cold weather! (sorry, but we do–the plants need the rest).

    • On the weekend we saw a danelion on the lawn behind the house. It’s nice to have warm temperatures but it goes against Mother Nature. You’re right, Jodi, we do need some cold weather.

  3. I love pussy willows! They are one of my fondest memories of winters on the Great Lakes. December would really be an early spring. Blessings to you…

  8. Dandelions and pussywillows?? What kind of winter is that? Even here in the balmy west coast banana belt we don’t have any of them yet. 🙂 Enjoy them while you can. I’ll bet they’ll be covered in a layer of snow within the month. (Aren’t I mean? I’m just jealous.)

    • We’ve been having a bit of mild weather, lot of rain in November. A little unnatural for Nova Scotia. Yes, Carol, I’m pretty sure the snow is coming. Thanks for the reminder..Love you, too.
