Wishing you all a Happy Easter!
This Easter weekend is shaping up to be a bit different than we’ve seen in the past. Our son was out on Good Friday for a visit. Both he and our daughter are working tomorrow and won’t be able to be with us. My mom, who has spent the past twenty-two years helping us celebrate Easter, has other plans this year. It looks as though it will just be my husband and I, and our neighbour. This isn’t meant to sound pathetic. It’s all good. Every year cannot be the same as the last.
How are you spending your Easter weekend?

/ April 23, 2011We’re going to Easter services tonight so our day will be free to not get dressed tomorrow. We’ll have ham and all the fixin’s and it’ll be just my husband and 2 daughters.

/ April 23, 2011It will just be my husband and I as well but we are OK with that. We have been and will be in touch with everyone by phone over the weekend. I am just thankful that Mom is Ok and at home now. A nice walk on the beach, a salmon in the oven and some preciuos time to read and relax will be perfect. The quote was ideal. / April 24, 2011Great post, Laura. Easter will be different for us this year. My mother-in-law’s death in mid-November was something we were in many ways numb to at Christmas. Today, when our family gets together the loss will be palpable. The death of her sister this February also brings about a change. Her family is gathering around her son and his daughters and grandchildren rather than joining our extended family celebration. But we will still gather and enjoy our family and extended family that we see rarely and remember the good times. It will be a wonderful evening, and as we drive home, we will be happy and full of news to share and grateful for the time we had together. Couldn’t ask for more.

Last night we had a dusting of snow, and today has been gray and cold … which lends itself quite nicely to the manner of a quiet practice of the day and week of how we observe.
