Easter says you can put truth in a grave, but it won’t stay there. ~Clarence W. Hall
Wishing you all a Happy Easter!
This Easter weekend is shaping up to be a bit different than we’ve seen in the past. Our son was out on Good Friday for a visit. Both he and our daughter are working tomorrow and won’t be able to be with us. My mom, who has spent the past twenty-two years helping us celebrate Easter, has other plans this year. It looks as though it will just be my husband and I, and our neighbour. This isn’t meant to sound pathetic. It’s all good. Every year cannot be the same as the last.
How are you spending your Easter weekend?

/ April 23, 2011We’re going to Easter services tonight so our day will be free to not get dressed tomorrow. We’ll have ham and all the fixin’s and it’ll be just my husband and 2 daughters.
Happy Easter

/ April 23, 2011My spouse is in on a business trip in China so it’s a little different for me this Easter, too. But you’re right, not a reason to feel lonely, just lucky that I have people to love and to miss when they’re not around.

/ April 23, 2011It will just be my husband and I as well but we are OK with that. We have been and will be in touch with everyone by phone over the weekend. I am just thankful that Mom is Ok and at home now. A nice walk on the beach, a salmon in the oven and some preciuos time to read and relax will be perfect. The quote was ideal. Thanks and have a wonderful Easter Laura

/ April 23, 2011I must comment twice because I forgot to mention what a beautiful Easter post this is. The graveyard with the quote and the bright yellow flower standing in the dry grass around it are stunning! Resurrection! Blessings…

/ April 24, 2011Loved reading what you’ll all be doing this Easter. Thanks for commenting. Enjoy your day!
@Carl–yes, I thought the quote was rather poignant
@Tricia—we’re having an 11:00 am service.
@Alison & @ Darlene— We make the best of the situations we find ourselves in. No sense wishing for things to be otherwise.
@ Carol Ann– Thanks so much!! Yes, definitely a purpose in everything..

/ April 24, 2011Great post, Laura. Easter will be different for us this year. My mother-in-law’s death in mid-November was something we were in many ways numb to at Christmas. Today, when our family gets together the loss will be palpable. The death of her sister this February also brings about a change. Her family is gathering around her son and his daughters and grandchildren rather than joining our extended family celebration. But we will still gather and enjoy our family and extended family that we see rarely and remember the good times. It will be a wonderful evening, and as we drive home, we will be happy and full of news to share and grateful for the time we had together. Couldn’t ask for more.

/ April 24, 2011Thanks Heather! Death brings about many changes especially during that first year when we go through each holiday, birthday and anniversary without our loved one.
Now is the time for new memories to be made. Although they will be different, that difference will also produce some lasting memories.

/ April 24, 2011The daffodil – we, too, had a single, all by him/her self earlier this month.
Last night we had a dusting of snow, and today has been gray and cold … which lends itself quite nicely to the manner of a quiet practice of the day and week of how we observe.
Have a Happy Easter!

/ April 24, 2011I’m not even sure how this poor daffodil managed to push it’s way up this year. It’s too late in the spring for snow, but things could be far worse weather-wise so I’m not going to complain. Thank you, and I hope you had a happy Easter as well!
