Tagged!! Now to Face the Music.
Last week Darlene Foster caught up to me in a game of tag.
Now, I’m going to post the rules just because I intend to break them. Not only that, making up eleven questions and tagging eleven unsuspecting bloggers seems like too much work for this gal, and hey, I’ve got a novel idea in my head. You read about it in my last post….Letting go. Remember?
The Tag rules:
1. You must post the rules!
2. Answer the questions and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you’ve tagged.
3. Tag eleven people and link to them.
4. Let them know you’ve tagged them.
I thought I’d answer Darlene’s questions just to be a good sport, plus it gave me something to blog about.
So here goes:
Do you use a bookmark or will any old bit of paper do? I should be saying bookmarks because I have oodles of Bitter, Sweet bookmarks given to me by my publisher at the time of the launch, but truth be told, more times than not I grab anything for a bookmark, bits of paper a piece of yarn. Heck I’d use a twist tie if I had to.
What new books are you most excited to read this year? A few book I’m looking forward to reading this year are: Revenge of the Lobster Lover by facebook friend Hilary MacLoud and Buried but not Dead by BC writer/blogger Joylene Butler. I’m also anxious to get at Margaret Atwood’s Year of the Flood.
Favourite season? Fall has to be my favourite. I love the coloured leaves and the crispness in the air. If ever a season inspired me to write I’d say it was fall. Not only that, it’s the only season with an alias. Fall a.k.a. autumn but don’t tell the other seasons.
If money were not an issue, what present would you give yourself? A maid. Of course to go along with this maid I’d be looking for a much larger home. I mean, why not? Money’s no object, right? If someone else is doing the cleaning I’m all for it and as for the bigger house I wouldn’t want one of my employees to become bored while under my roof.
Do you buy second-hand books, new books or both? If it has a cover and pages, heck if it has pages, I’ll buy it. I’m a book packrat. Still, there are worse things in this world. At least I’m not hoarding something totally useless like plastic shopping bags or empty toilet paper tubes.
Early bird or night owl? I think I have a split birdsonality. I tend to be consistently inconsistent when it comes to sleep. If I had things my way I wouldn’t sleep at all. I mean what a waste of eight hours. Think of all the images I could be pinning, all the status updates I could be writing, and all the blogs I could be commenting on.
Do you like to read a specific genre? If so, what genre is it? I just like reading. I do read a lot of books for kids. Makes sense since I write books for kids, but if I’m reading big people books I tend to gravitate towards literary novels.
Who is your favourite literary character of all time? My favourite literary character of all time? I’ve got to go with my gut here and say Goldie Locks. Maybe it’s the golden locks, maybe because she barged into a bear’s house without giving a care, or maybe, just maybe it’s because I dressed up like Goldie Locks when I was a kid and hauled my teddy bears in a little wagon in the East Dalhousie parade on fair day.
Physical books, E-books or audio books? Are you kidding? I’m so old fashion I’d be reading tablets if they were still around.
If your life was made into a movie, who would you like to play you? I thought about this for awhile and decided on Danny DeVito of course he’d have to put on a wig and maybe lose a little weight, but he’s funny (and I like funny) and he’s just the right height. On second thought if he’s unable or unwilling to lose weight I’d be willing to increase my consumption of Mars bar to at least meet him half way cause I’m fair like that.
Cat person or dog person? Cat. I miss our kitty who disappeared last summer. Sometimes I imagine he’ll show up out of the blue to surprise me. Not sure we’ll replace him. He wasn’t a very smart kitty, but he was really loveable.
So there ya go. Eleven things about me that will make your life so much richer. Now because I’m sparing you the agony of being tagged and following the rules I think it’s only fair that you answer one of these questions. Any book mark will do. I confess with knitting books I like to use a piece of yarn?
Fleece and Fiber, Clara Parks new Sock Book, Bulletproof Web Design. I do love Margaret Atwood. I’m out of the fiction loop because of finishing graduate school.
Fall, but I truly love them all.
A long trip to Ireland and Scotland where I could afford to buy beautiful hand knitted sweaters and all the yarn I want. A farm, where I could raise and preserve one of the rare breeds of sheep.
Second-hand, first-hand, e-books-I’m in LOVE with books!
Early Bird, but I to wish we didn’t need sleep so much because there just isn’t enough time to do it all.
I like literature/fiction. Art History mysteries.

Cate Blanchette is my favorite actress. Could she look like she did in the the first Queen Elizabeth, I always wanted to have long red curly hair.
I’ve always had cats (presently have 3), but since I got my dog Jane I’ve wondered this myself. I LOVE her beyond words, she is so sweet and so faithful. its hard to say.

Great answers. Cate Blanchette, sounds like it’s going to be quite a movie. I’d pay money to watch that. 😉
I also like knitting and used to knit a lot when I was in high school. It’s so amazing what you can do with yarn and needles.

/ March 1, 2012Tag and awards have been going around and I suppose it is fun to do the game with one’s network of blog buddies. But has become a task for me as I have to review 200 + emails a day for just blog stuff. I have had to decline or just post the award with a thank you without doing all the stuff. Both ways offended the giver but I’m an old 62. Fun should never be a task.

/ March 1, 2012I still have yet to acknowledge a Versatile Blogger award. I may never. I too find these fun to read but cringe when I’m tagged. So thank you, one question is quite doable. If I could pick who played me in a movie, I’d choose Toni Collette. Though no one in my family agrees, I think I look like her and I also think we share some personality traits. That’s hard to say when you only see her as an actor. But actor’s real personalities bleed through and I feel I’m looking in a mirror. If not her then Winnie the Pooh. We are both of a simple mind.

/ March 1, 2012who would play me in a movie? quite an interesting question. the actress would have to be short and a bit quirky in looks and style. I can’t think of anyone but Lucy Liu, only because I read some news about her recently. plus, there really aren’t that many short Asian actress that I like who can act and doesn’t look like some fashion model.
your mention of Danny DeVito makes me laugh. he is funny! though I can’t imagine him playing a blonde.
if money is no object, I get myself a bookstore and sell only books from authors like you and people who self-publish. alright, who I’m kidding? I’ll probably get best sellers in there and also rare books and large picture books that takes up the size of desks and tables. and somewhere in there, there will be a nook for readers who can’t afford to buy but can browse and read and borrow books like a mini library. of cause, it would be a couple stories high and has a couple of 180 degree balcony here and there in which people can read their newly brought books or drink tea or coffee with cupcakes and sweets. And also, since this is a total fantasy, there would also be a free-book night where people just go and grab whatever they want and leave without having to pay. And then also, there would be a section for would-be writers, a space for them to just sit and write using old-fashion typewriters if they desire, although that would be a bit noisy wouldn’t it? and perhaps do a little research. A total fantasy. Although, there is a store in new york called the Strand where you can get books half off and there’s a rare book section. Though, sadly no cafe or balcony or place to sit and read.
so now that my head is bloated with this fantasy, I just like to say how much I like your writing on this blog. and dare I say it, I just got a copy of bitter, sweet and will be reading that sometime in the future. I said sometime in the future because I have at least 30 books that are sitting on my self still unread but I’ll eventually read yours. eventually.

/ March 1, 2012Oh Florence there seems to be so many little revealed facts about me that I’m pulling out these days. Many of them my own kids didn’t know especially wanting Danny Devito to play me..Now that one I’m sure they don’t know.. lol
Sophia Loren is so beautiful no matter what her age. I’m sure with the right make-up she could pass for someone much younger. Good choice. 🙂

But who would I like to play me in a movie? It would likely be Tyne Daly. A great actress with a strong sense of self albeit not exactly a pretty face. LOL!

/ March 2, 2012Laura and Darlene, I’ve always liked her… especially in the TV shows ‘Cagney & Lacy’ and ‘Judging Amy’. I also like that she’s allowing herself to age naturally without all the Hollywood-inspired aids. She seems authentic, although of course I don’t really know anything about her.

Year of the Flood was included in price of the ticket when we went to see Margaret Atwood last August.. Actually, a very smart way to, not only support the library, but to see books. There must have been over a hundred of us there that evening.
