So I’ve been kind of hiding around blogland this winter, coming out occasionally to see what going on. You may or may not have noticed.
I wanted to give a shout out to a few new blogs I discovered this past week. I hope you’ll pop on over if you have time and see what they’re all about.
Winter’s been flying by and I’ve been busy writing. Nothing really new to report here. At the end of January, my editor emailed to say she’d lost pretty much all of January due to illness and so this meant the edits on my novel was pushed back. This just means I’ll have more time to work on my current WIP. Yes, I did get through a first draft and now it’s time to start all over again.
Is a writer ever really through with a manuscript? Most of us can always find something we want to change, but alas, there comes a time when we have to say enough is enough.
Now with a book contract signed and “To Fly With a Broken Wing” due to come out this fall it’ll soon be time to start thinking about all the things that go along with having a newly published book— book launches and signing, readings, and meeting new people. Still, it’s a fair ways away. I don’t have a cover yet for the book, but I’ll be sure to share it with all of you when I do.
So there you have it, a quick, kind of dull summary of where I’m at. And with March edging closer to an ending, I’m anxious for the nice weather and a few signs of spring to come our way.

/ March 13, 2013Hi Laura! Glad you’ve survived the long winter and are still writing. I haven’t been blogging much myself lately. Always trying to figure out what to focus on with my writing projects. I’ve taken a couple of Writer’s Digest courses and now am taking one with Christina Katz. I do find they give me structure and keep me writing. I’m also subbing short stories and getting rejected so I feel like a real writer! Heheh!

The winter hasn’t done a whole lot for me in the writing department, and after my 80 000-word rush last March-May I’ve come to associate spring with heavy writing…so I’m keeping an eye on the temperature and amount of mud around. / March 13, 2013I’m looking forward to this new release, too. It seems like a very long time since the launch of Bitter, Sweet.
March Madness is where I’m at… the annual set-my-own-goals-and-try-to-reach-them effort. I set very gentle goals and by mid month I haven’t come close to reaching any of them! I’ve been dabbling with a church historical project at the same time and finally decided it was okay to switch goals and focus totally on it. If I get that done maybe then I’ll be able to concentrate on my other writing. I haven’t been very good at multi-tasking this winter. LOL!

/ March 13, 2013I’m torn between writing and waiting for our goat to give birth. Write an hour, run out and check the doe. Feed the kids, check the doe. Write a few more words. Check the doe. Can you tell we’re anxious? It’s our first birth on the farm. We haven’t even hatched eggs yet and here we are waiting for a kid to arrive, or two kids.
I’m slowly finishing up the last two stories in an anthology I began more than two years ago. Then it’s back to editing my fantasy novel and my final romance (final because I don’t think romance writing is for me; or maybe there is another novel in the future 😉 )
So we should expect you on the circuit this fall: book launch, meet the writer at Chapters, etc. Perhaps you’ll get on local news. That would be nice. Good luck. I’ll keep a look out and help spread the news.

It sounds as though you’ve been achieving quite a bit on the writing front despite the busy life of a farmer. 🙂 I’m sure you’ll be posting photos .
