Here are a few snowy photos taken at Black Duck Lake yesterday after Saturday night’s snowstorm. 
Before this happened there was scarcely a scab of snow to be found. It looked more like spring in these parts than winter. Not only that, the temperature was on the plus side all week long. Nice, since we’d just come through a cold snap.
But, Mother Nature decided to remind us that winter is far from being over. Although spring was flirting with us, she certainly isn’t ready to stay anytime soon.
I’ve been busy writing this winter, as you would expect. The cold weather makes me want to stay close to home and put a pot of soup on the stove to scorch simmer. I also have some reading to catch up on– along with all the usual boring things like housework– as I wait from spring to arrive again.

I wish I could stay in by a fire and write all winter, but…I’ve young ones in the house which means routine all winter. I am writing more, baking more and reading.

/ January 22, 2014Oh my, the snow plough just went! That’s twice today. Quite a bit of snow is down. I was out and shoveled off the doorsteps earlier, why? I have no idea. The wind is picking up as well and the upstairs is creaking. I just hope we keep our power. It was off 14 hours on Sunday, which wasn’t bad considering it was the first time all winter we’d lost it.

I can see tons of snow outside my window, but ours is polluted by gravel and sand, which we would grouse about if they didn’t spread it so liberally.Your snow is pristine. I teach a day and a half every week, and on the other days I’m editing and working on a freelance contract that ends Jan. 31–oh yes, and marking and housework, etc. It’s nice to have a routine that allows time for just thinking, unlike my fall semester which was absolutely frantic.
