Life is all about learning. Each day we’re offered the opportunity to learn something new about ourselves, the world we live in and the people who make up our world. This past week I’ve tried to pay close attention to what life is trying to tell me. Subsequently, I’ve put together a list of some of the random lessons that have come my way.
- It is possible to have too many plastic containers.
- Proofread carefully.
- Be persistent. You don’t have to get it right the first, second, third, fourth…….time. You get what I mean.
- People you thought were friends sometimes aren’t.
- Facebook will not always send you notifications.
- It is not helpful to stay stuck in the past. Keep on movin’.
- Sometimes, when housecleaning, you really do need a toothbrush.
- If you think someone has betrayed you you need to have a glass of wine and get over it.
- Good friends will take time to make you laugh.
- There are many varieties of pickles in the world. You only need to choose one.
- Some people lie, accept their faults but don’t trust what they tell you.
- You won’t always get what you want but you have to be okay with that.
- The small gestures mean a lot.
- We all experience brain farts.
- Cry, but only if you have to.
- Inanimate objects have the ability to move all on their own.
- Everything you need cannot be found on the Internet.
- We all see the world in a different light.
- Dust bunnies can be scary creatures.
- Everyone needs alone time.
What lessons has life taught you this week?

/ June 18, 2015I love your list. Here is one I shared with my daughter this week. “Things don´t always turn out the way I planned, but they always turn out.” It took me a while to figure this out.

/ June 18, 2015Thanks Darlene! You’re right about that. That’s one my husband will sometimes remind me of. It’s an important thing to keep in mind.

/ June 18, 2015Love this list. As for the brain farts, I have plenty of those! The plastic containers? I’m learning the same thing though I can’t possibly admit this to the hubby who’s been after me to let go of some, ha!

/ June 18, 2015What is with those containers? I also discovered a whole lot of tops with no bottoms to match. Sheesh! I’ve now organized them into one cupboard and got rid of the ones that had no tops or bottoms. Wow! That wasn’t such a hard lesson. Wonder why it took me so long to do it. 😉

Let's CUT the Crap!
/ June 18, 2015Love the list, Laura. I own up to most of them — okay all of them. These are mine:
* Don’t stress over dust. It will still be there tomorrow.
* If you can’t find it, the cat is responsible.
* Don’t argue with an idiot. It’s not worth your time or energy.

/ June 18, 2015I like yours, Tess! It also made me miss our kitty who’s been gone now for about three years. 😦 He was good at taking the blame for things. Although, truthfully, he was he was pretty good.

Let's CUT the Crap!
/ June 18, 2015I have learned to lay blame on the cat because the look on either of their faces is,
“Who me?” 😀 😀

/ June 18, 2015Curious about the inanimate objects moving by themselves one…spooky!
Things I noticed (or had reconfirmed) this week:
if you shop around, you can get much better value for your $;
there are still young people wiling to do a hard day’s work;
when you have an annoying sharp edge on a tooth, the dentist can easily sand it off:)
letting your jaw drop open when you have insomnia might help you get back to sleep!
Are you guys going to tour the windfarm on Sunday? By the time Don thought of it, it was too late to call, apparently.

/ June 18, 2015“letting your jaw drop open when you have insomnia might help you get back to sleep!” Really?
Nothing spooky about things moving on their own. I’ve had things disappear and never show up, but for certain they’re not where I put them. 😉
We’re planning to go to the wind farm, yes. My understanding was they wanted people to sign up to have an idea of how much food to have. Rumours say 1000, but I’m not sure that’s right. Sounds like quite a crowd. We drove past the other day when we went to Daphne’s book launch. Wow! Are they big. If I were you and wanted to go, I’d just show up. I can’t imagine they’d turn you away. You can have Don play dumb. 😉 I just added two more to our list last week in case Matt and Alicia got out.

/ June 18, 2015Excellent life lessons, Laura. 🙂 Some of mine have been:
1. It may be my life, but life isn’t all about me.
2. I may not know what my tomorrow holds, but I know Who holds my tomorrows. (One of my hubby’s favourite sayings.)
3. When I think I’ve reached ‘The End’, there will always be more work awaiting me.
And so it goes.

/ June 19, 2015Lots of wisdom there, Carol. And all SO true. I’m always in awe at the way life gives us new lessons each day. Many times, I’m afraid, we don’t pay attention. But with every situation there is an underlying truth somewhere.

/ June 19, 2015Great list , Laura! The one I’d add is one I heard last week: Nothing is lost until your mother can’t find it. I seem to be the only one in the house who lifts up the right magazine or backpack or dirty shirt to find the missing whateveritis. Maybe it’s a superpower! 🙂

/ June 19, 2015Ha! Funny isn’t it how they can look for something and become frustrated, but the minute they tell us what they’re looking for we can put our hands on it. My husband usually can’t see things right in front of him. 🙂
