I looked for Autumn, and she was there, hiding among the foliage, peeking out at me, moving with shy steps into September. Again, it feels too early, and she makes this writer’s heart feel a slight bit melancholy.
Have you seen signs of Autumn where you are?

But considering how long it took for my publisher to get my memoir done for me, and now I have to do 99.9% of the marketing; and considering how the clock is ticking and I’ll be 72 next year; and considering that so many people, more and more of my friends, ones I would never have suspected, are getting converted to e-readers, I think I’m going to try it.

/ September 9, 2011Carl’s not too far off when it comes to South Florida weather – ugh! (And we get thunderstorms every afternoon down here between 2 & 3PM). I split time between Ft Lauderdale & St Augustine (real home). NE Florida’s climate is less extreme. I live at the ocean &, since there’s always a breeze, it’s typically 5+ degrees warmer in winter & 5+ degrees cooler in summer – so that’s a plus. Do miss fall but not the winter snow & cold. The only obvious sign of winter here (@ home) is the lawn – goes dormant mid January thru February & looks like straw – but … we actually have contractors that will “paint” the lawn green. (I do like hanging out on the beach in January.) Sorry – cheap shot.

/ November 10, 2011I reside in Florida..and the only way you can tell the season change is by the decorations in the retail stores..and the temp of the water in my pool…right now when I go in within seconds from my waist down I am frozen..can exercise long time..( can’t feel the pain) when I get out I thaw..much pain…winter is a coming.
I grew up in the northeast and do miss that first snow, flakes falling on your face, fireplace glowing, hot toddies, snuggling under a down comforter..waking up having to shovel the snow/ice car won’t start…eh..on second thought..sitting in a chair on the patio with the sun on my face,reading a good book in the middle of winter doesn’t sound so bad…but, I do miss the colours of Autumn…thanks for asking…by the way my new book “Whatever I’m Still Here” is now published..love the pics Laura..
