Relaxing

I was highly tempted to call this post “Chillaxing” not only because of the cold snap we had last night, but as a bit of an inside joke with my kids. Oh, they know what it means!

I thought I'd throw in a nice relaxing photo of a cat named "Tah" --Please do not ask about the name!

Anyway to keep this post short and sweet, if you’re sitting back relaxing today, and can’t think of something to do, I’d like to mention that there’s a review of Bitter, Sweet over at Lynn A. Davidson’t bog today–here’s the link if you’re interested in taking a peek.

Lynn’s a great support to writers and I do thank her for this.
Thanks Lynn. :)

  1. Well, since you said don’t ask about the cat’s name, that’s all I can think about.

  3. Laura, chillaxing is a new word of the decade .. isn’t it? Well, if it isn’t official it should be! I have heard that word in use, although it hasn’t made its way into a dictionary yet that I have seen. As a combination of ‘chilling out’ and ‘relaxing’ it is a great word, and I like it.

It is my pleasure and privilege to highlight your book on my blog. Thank you for being my ‘test subject’. :)

    • Well thank you for doing the review, Lynn! It was greatly appreciated and I don’t mind being your “test subject.” Someone always has to be the first.

Oh yeah, chillax, according to my kids, is “old.” I used the word once and I haven’t heard then end of it.. LOL! Talk about beating something to death. LOL!

  4. Hat spelled backward? :-)

Congratulations on a lovely review, Laura. I know that must feel wonderful.

Just curious, as a soon to be published author, do you read all your reviews? I’m chicken and thinking of having someone else read first and prepare me for the bad ones. I want to know what the negative reviews say because if they point out a real problem, I need to learn from that. If they’re just mean-spirited, I won’t waste my time.

    • Thanks Linda! Yes I’ve read all my reviews and so far they’ve been good. I guess I’ve just been lucky so far. Sooner or later every author gets a bad review. It’s sort of a rite of passage isn’t it? Well, hopefully if I tell myself that I’ll be prepared when a nasty one comes along.

We all have to take into account that everyone will not like our book. It’s just that simple. Hopefully, if they don’t like it they’ll choose not to do a review. LOL!

There have been books that I absolutely loved that other people thought were horrible. Horrible? How can there be such a big difference in opinion? I’m not sure if we have anything to “learn” from negative reviews other than how to become more thick-skinned. When someone doesn’t like something it doesn’t mean their reason are even valid. Now receiving constructive criticism is a totally different story altogether. That is something every writer should be pleased to get.

I’m sure you’re filled with a lot of nervous energy, Linda, with your date of publication closing in..I’m so excited for you! I’ve enjoyed following your blog and I’m sure you will receive a LOT of wonderful reviews! Best of luck to you!

  7. Read the review Congrats – still waiting for B,S to arrive, but won’t be home again for a few weeks. Ugh! (Decided I’d better add the comma if abbreviating your book title.)

    Nice job Lynn.
